11:57 03:12
It’s 11:57, still waiting for your call To bitch about old girlfriends, work, hard spots and all She broke my heart, they stole my steam, not really what it seems to seem I’ll only wait for you ‘till noon. the bottom’s gonna drop out this time I know I told you I was fine, but I lied And as comforting as your words are, I still wake up alone This psychotic day, sun can’t decide whether to go or stay I got a list of things to do can’t get started, I’m waitin’ for you Don’t mean to imply a fit, Just got caught in an idea, I rarely admit ‘Cause the bottom’s gonna drop out this time I know I told you I was fine, but I lied And as comforting as your words are, I still wake up alone

Where Were You Written - June 2001 I rearranged the house to the way it was before Now that things are settled, can’t think what I wanted so long for A mirror in front me is a hard view to take But I can ask the questions, knowing I’ll be okay Where were you, When I couldn’t see the clouds for the sky Where were you When I’d call out your name Didn’t I make it clear I needed you here Sounds repetitive, but I’m sorry it turned out this way We both got tired of pretending we could make you want to stay A dry existance followed by a crash No longer buried by the thoughtlessness and ash Where were you, When I couldn’t see the clouds for the sky Where were you When I’d call out your name Didn’t I make it clear I needed you here What would you do, if you had it to do again What rules would you change What would you say, when you left that day How would you want it to end Time moves on, work gets done They say one heals all wounds the other’s a nice distraction Everything is as it should be Except I’m not there loving you, you’re not here loving me.

Is it alright if I follow you Is it alright if I care Will you turn, laugh at me Or might you try, might you dare To love me To love me To love me and take me on another road Where no one else can see But you and me Is it alright if I dream of you Is it alright if I stay Will you smile, ask me to leave Or might you try, every day To love me To love me To love me and take me on another road Where no one else can see But you and me Is it alright (2006)

Fly 03:43
He finds an answer out on the corner A pack for a dollar, that’s what it takes But he flies for a while, doesn’t bother to look around His mind flies high, ‘till his body comes down But he flies for a while She finds an answer down on the corner A kiss for a dollar, that’s what she makes But she flies for a while, closes her eyes to the taste We pass by, shake our heads at the waste And she lies for a while The spin starts here, hiding what’s beneath With a gun against our head, the metal to our teeth You sell your answer, down on the corner A bomb for a dollar, that’s what you’ll take And they fly for a while, through skies through walls Are you evil inside, or just unforgivable But you fly for a while. (2006)

Jolene 03:49
JOLENE Dolly Parton Copyright Velvet Apple Music Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man. Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, please don't take him just because you can. Your beauty is beyond compare with flaming locks of auburn hair, With iv'ry skin and eyes of emerald green. Your smile is like a breath of spring, your voice is soft like summer rain, and I cannot compete with you Jolene. He talks about you in his sleep and there's nothing I can do to keep from crying when he calls your name, Jolene. And I can easily understand how you could easily take my man, But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene. You could have your choice of men but I could never love again, He's the only one for me, Jolene. I had to have this talk with you my happiness depends on you, And whatever you decide to do, Jolene. Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man. Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, please don't take him just because you can.

Lullaby 04:27
She said don't write me a lullaby They're too quiet and always make me cry And in the end, someone loses their best friend A dog or sister, or sometimes the entire fight She said put sunshine in everything you write Half a smile will take you a mile, if you do it right And even if it doesn't work, the other guys the jerk That's how she taught me to write a song She said write with your head But remember your heart And don't forget, every regret That's how she taught me to write a song She said don't write me one of them fast songs You're voice is too pretty, I'll never be able to sing along And don't forget every regret Try your left hand at pool When playing break every rule That's how she taught me to write a song (2006)

White flowers on the fireplace A sparkle in my eye The back door flies open To me it's a picture-perfect life Eating dinner on the back porch Smiling as the years roll by They say love's still in this world and so do you and I So do you and I And this time around Let's give 'em a little something they can't deny White flowers on the fireplace A sparkle in my eye The back door flies open To me it's a picture-perfect life Eating dinner on the back porch Smiling as the years roll by They say love's still in this world and so do you and I (2001)

Earthquake 03:11
You came into my life at the wrong time I had a house of stone and was looking ahead counting on better times But you looked at me with a promise of heat you said one time, what would it cost At the time I tended to agree with you but look at the list of what I’ve lost 'Cause you lied you said I’ll take you once leave you forever nothing risked, nothing won An earthquake shook the rooftop, an earthquake shook the floor but it didn’t distract you for a moment darlin’ you just stopped and asked, “how ‘bout one more” You lied in the face of the night, playin’ innocent to the end you said if I hadn’t wanted it, I wouldn’t’ve taken it and baby you’re stuck here Cuz you lied in the face of the night, playin’ innocent to the end you said I’ll take you once, leave you forever nothing risked, nothing won The earthquake shook the rest of the town the zoo gates swallowed into the ground the lions were freed, and a tiger were bared a couple of cheetahs having races with coupla lawn chairs People cried out for what to do can’t you control those animals, catch ‘em, bring them down We can’t have that kind of undomesticated activity bring those felines back into captivity The rumblings have calmed, by my stone house has crumbled to the ground and I don’t know whether to blame you or that earthquake but there are still a couple of bears runnin’ around

Dead Guy 03:21
Check my pockets, check my bags Check in the garden, out in the back But you won’t find nothin’, I guarantee You won’t find nothin’, but dead ol’ me It’s been taken a long time ago Where they put it - I don’t know You won’t find it, you’re wrong You won’t find it, it’s gone Fire in the hole Fire in the hole Fire in the hole Now you know Check my pockets, check my bags Check in the garden, out in the back But you won’t find nothin’, I guarantee You won’t find nothin’, but dead ol’ me (2005)

Safe Tonight 01:26
You’ll be safe tonight Here in my arms nothing bad can reach you With the music down low A candle flame by an open window You’ll safe tonight You’ll be warm You’ll be adored You’ll be safe tonight You’ll be safe tonight Close in my arms, nothing can harm you Whether we go or stay Together we’ll find a way And you’ll be safe tonight You’ll be warm You’ll be adored You’ll be safe tonight

about

It was while waiting to load-out from a show that Vince and Andrea first gave me the idea to record a live CD. It was a wonderfully simple answer to a nagging problem I had. It had been 10 years since my first CD and I hadn't been able to get going on a new solo project. Hmmm. A live recording - what a lovely idea.

On April 29, 2006, Vince and I held a concert in the living room at "The Mansion" (where he also happened to have a studio) and recorded it. We captured a very nice performance.

Of course, I couldn't help myself and spent the next year adding a few 'embellishment' tracks. I was blessed to have some of my favorite musicians help me out. The vocal and guitar on the recording is form the live performance. The additional tracks are just a few folks having fun in the studio. Lovely.
