Plenty of Time
04:30
|
|||
I watched my father at the end,
Turn around another bend, I waved goodbye
But when I looked he was there again, with a sheepish knowing grin,
And now I know why
There's not an easy way to go
It's not to the left or right
It's not point A to point B, trust me
It ain't a line
We've got plenty of time
Someone, a boy, I know quite well
Afraid he was damned to hell
Was often found alone
A life that no one knew about, afraid he'd be found out.
Always took the long way home.
It's not unique, one of no kind,
Ask the questions, 'cause there's plenty of clues
There's no path to take you to who you'll be
To make the choice is not the crime
We've got plenty of time
If we can't see it is there an end,
And doesn't moving ahead lead to somewhere else
If there's a tree that falls in the woods, a little train that thinks it could
I solved the puzzle but had an extra piece
My daughter watched me at the end
Turn around another ben, she waved goodbye
But when she looked I was there again, with that sheepish knowing grin.
I told her why
There's not an easy way to go,
It's not to the left or right
It's not point A to point B, trust me
It ain't a line,
We've got plenty of time.

Lonely Time
04:45
|
|||
Staring at the sky, something's just not right
'Cause the color's the color of your eyes
The air is feeling kinda heavy
It's a lonely time, for me a lonely time
The table's still broken from the other night
And I left the magazines where they fell
But if there's anything you might have left behind
It's a lonely time, for me a lonely time
There's no use to ask any questions,
There's no one here to answer anyway
But if I had my wish, I'd wish for you tonight
And I'd ask you to stay
(Break - verse)
The neighbors' been wondering about you plans
All I can do is shake my head
And wonder how long I'll be telling myself
It's a lonely time, for me a lonely time
There's no use to ask any questions,
There's no one here to answer anyway
But if I had my wish, I'd wish for you tonight
And I'd ask you to stay
Staring at the sky, something's just not right
'Cause the color's the color of your eyes
And the air is feeling kinda heavy
It's a lonely time, for me a lonely time

Have You Seen the Wind
05:18
|
|||
This is the way you laugh, this is the way I smile
This is the way we walk and how I hold your hand
This is the way cry, this is the way we talk
This is the way I love you when I think I can
Have you seen the wind today, sing right past my smile
It found the words that I had written to you.
We danced to it for a while 'till I fell over laughing
Remembering who I wrote it to.
I remembered the feeling as I fell into your dreams
I remember the time and the day.
Let's jump for joy... just to do it.
Let's sing that song again, just to do it.
Let's chase the waves 'round the stars and back again
And let's blow the clouds into the shape of a forest.
It's a story that's been re-opened, I read it long ago
Where witches died, horses flew, dreams came true.
Promise me you'll do your best
In return I'll do my best
The dark can be so dark, when it's dark and alone.
Have you seen the wind today
And let's jump for joy... just to do it.
Let's chase the waves 'round the stars and back again
And let's blow the clouds into the shape of a forest.
Remember the feeling, as you fall into my dreams
Remember this time and this day
I love you.

Caroline's Wedding

C
Well, the band is hired, the date is set
F
I need four bride's maids and a white long dress
G
the deposit's down so you know it's gonna come true
C
I used my Elvis stamps for the invitations
F
No time for bad thoughts or hesitations
G
Gotta find something old, new, borrowed and blue
Going half crazy running around trying to plan this thing
Keep the guest list down, Steve's a great guy but is it worth all this
Well, of course he is, no question there
He's the love of my life, my only care,
Except for the business of what to do with my hair
Counting down the hours, counting the days
The lists are blurry and my mind's a haze
Did I get the day off? Will there be enough room?
Did I order the napkins and a tux for the groom?
Well, my mother disowned me three or four times
'Cause I wouldn't budge about the receiving line
Kris runs blocker, but tends to lean her way
So I just bite my tongue and she bites hers
Picking the main dish and the h'ors d'ourves
I told her I was thinking meatloaf and she was on her way
At night I wonder, "What else could there be?"
We've the color of streamers to decaffinated tea
A car for his family, ushers, flowers and rings
Respond s'il vous plait cards, there can't be a thing.

Empty Cup
04:19
|
|||
Killing time in a bright cafe, she closes her eyes and thinks of days
Of small towns and barbershops
As her thought return to the chevrolet that she and ma would often stay
As they searched for a cheap room and job
Two against the world or time, at least, it seemed
With a wall of their past just up ahead
Working to survive not to follow some dream
Not knowing what that dream would be if they were
At ten-years-old she knnew the rules, don't talk to cops or bring in fools
Just give them a name then turn and leave
As the noise went on in the other room
She played with cards, talked to the moon
Slept in the backseat with cash underneath
(Chorus)
Run, Ma cried, on a dusty Saturday
Pushed the money into my hands
I did as was told and never looked back
Moved on from where my mother had stayed
Waking up in a cold cafe, an empty cup and different name
She shakes her head and laughs about her thoughts
Another world and years ago
No people to see, no things to know, she admits
She misses her alot

Song in "G"
03:34
|
|||
Annie took a photo of movie star
We framed it and put it on my wall
And though I haven't talked to her in years,
It's still there
We'd joke about how poorly we grew up
Her nose to long and my small hands
But after all the notes we wrote in vain
Our time ran out
But doesn't time roll by, the numbers fly
Can't imagine why I let a friend like you go
Don't you remember when the sky moved out
And the birds were mad 'cause they had to walk
And the ocean had several colors then,
Whatever we made up
But that's not where we are today
Or where we would hope to be
Time must not have been so expensive
And a walk with you must have been free
I tried to call you the other day,
But the number had changed with no forward left
And after I tried information one more time
I let it rest
Because time does roll by, the numbers fly
but I can't imagine why, I ever let a friend like you go
The years roll by accusations fly, can't imagine why
I ever let a love like you go.

Angel Nowadays

Angel Nowadays
by Sue Tjardes
We took back the box for the cable TV we're lucky we still have a phone
It's not only that we're too broke to go out,
but I really feel like staying at home
You tell me your day and I'll tell you mine
we'll laugh at all those same old jokes one more time
And down at the bookstore a brand new display
offers answers to questions people ask every day
And everybody's got an angel nowadays,
everybody's got angel to show them the way,
everybody's got something to believe in something to hold onto
everybody's got an angel nowadays
what I got is you
What if we'd known it would get this far, when we started out to sail this life
We talk on the porch 'till it gets dark
and then we go back inside
Remember the chores that tomorrow will bring
we dread it, giggle and drift off to sleep
And down at the bookstore a brand new display
gives solutions to problems people have everyday
And everybody's got an angel nowadays,
everybody's got angel to show them the way,
everybody's got something to believe in something to hold onto
everybody's got an angel nowadays
what I got is you
And down at the bookstore a brand new display
give comforts to doubts people have everyday
And everybody's got an angel nowadays,
everybody's got angel to show them the way,
everybody's got something to believe in something to hold onto
everybody's got an angel nowadays
what I got is you

Cuckoo
tradtional
arrangement Liz Savage
Oh, the Cuckoo, she's a pretty bird and she sings as she flies
And you only will see Cuckoo, on the fourth day of July.
I'm gonna build me a cabin, on the mountain top so high
So I can see my pretty lover as she comes riding by.
Jack of diamonds, jack of diamonds I see your face so old
You rob my pockets, of their silver and gold.
Sometimes I wonder, why women love men
And sometimes I wonder, why men love them.
Oh, the Cuckoo, she's a pretty bird and she sings as she flies
And you only will see Cuckoo, on the fourth day of July.

Quiet Here
04:15
|
|||
Head on my pillow, I'm alone again
Time has slowed down now and I can think
I listen to cars outside, more like a river than machine
It's quiet here
Problems seem so far away, a box off in the distance
Left to be opened some other day
Not now
A rumbling furnace cradles me
Quiet air is all I see
Underneath the crowd underneath the blast
Hiding from the lies and half-truths
Promises broken, people leave, no one seems to care
Except for quiet, quiet's always there
The silence is not quite deafening,
though it comes to me from all sides
I cover my ears to catch the sound
The noise outside confuses me,
Quiet here is all I seek
Underneath the fire underneath the blast
Hiding form the lies and the half-truths
Promises broken, people leave, no one seems to care
Except for quiet, quiet's always there
It's quiet here
It's quiet here
Quiet's here.

Born in the Country
traditional
Arrangement Liz Savage & Alicia Healey
I was born in the country, you thought I was easy to fool
I was born in the country, you thought I was wasy to fool
Well, the times are changing and this country girl ain't anybody's fool
I gave sugar for sugar, now I give salt for salt
I gave sugar for sugar, now I give salt for salt
If you don't like it, baby, I guess that's just your own goddamned fault
You walked past my window, you walked right by my gate
You walked past my window, you walked right by my gate
You walked past my window, but you won't get by my thrity-eight
It takes a mean-hearted man, to make long-time woman hurt down deep
It takes a mean-hearted man, to make long-time woman hurt down deep
Gonna find me a woman, to rock this country baby down to sleep
I'm leaving you baby, I gotta keep movin' on
I'm leaving you baby, I gotta keep movin' on
If you don't believe me, you just go and count the days I'm gone.
